Additional ranges

In addition to our traditional Black range we also offer:

1) A powder coated Pewter range, (all items available)

2) A cast Brass range. This is a limited range of high quality cast Brass ironmongery. The patterns we use are the traditional patterns we have used for over 150 years. The items shown are generally kept in stock

3) An electro plated Bronze range. This range uses our traditional iron products. These are highly polished and then a Bronze electro plated finish is applied to give a deep. lustrous and fairly unique effect. We have tested these products on our warehouse door which has a huge amount of use and we have found that the finish is extremely hard wearing.

Long Serving Director retires

The 31st May marked the end of an era for Kirkpatrick Ltd as Syd Gilbert retired from the Company. Syd started in the warehouse on 1st November 1943 at the age of 14. After a short break for National Service he continued with the Company and was made a Director in January 1973.

At the age of 79 Syd felt that it was the right time to retire but we are sure that he will still be on hand to help us find that old pattern or casting that we haven't made for 30 years!

We are deeply indebted to Syd for his unswerving commitment to the Company for over 65 years and we wish him a long and happy retirement.

Quality Lock Co Ltd

On 26th March Kirkpatrick completed the purchase of the Share Capital of Quality Lock Co Ltd of Willenhall.

Quality Lock, as the name suggests, manufacture high quality, hand made locks. Their products compliment the Kirkpatrick range of ironmongery and both Companies operate at the premium, quality end of the market.

Healthy Workplace Awards

Kirkpatrick Ltd were recently awarded the Healthy Workplace Awards Gold Award. This is the culmination of months of effort aimed at improving the health and well being of the workforce. Employees have been given help and advice with diet, lifestyle. In addition, a number of employees have been given help and support to stop smoking.

Made in Britain

Kirkpatrick Ltd are proud to be featured in a new book published on 1st October titled, "Made in Britain", the Best of Quintessentially British Companies. We have three pages alongside the likes of (amonst others) JCB, Gieves & Hawkes and the Morgan Car Co.

The book gives brief overviews of each Company showing how the have succeeded and survived over the years.

British Standard Mortice Lock

Our latest 5 lever Mortice sashlock, (product code 1215), is now manufactured to BS3621. It is supplied complete with fitting instructions and Antique style endplates which will compliment the look of our Antique range of door furniture.

New Products rack bolts

We are constantly looking for new, innovative products to offer our customers and end users. Home security is an increasingly important area and we have now introduced a rack bolt for locking either a window or a door.

The endplates are painted black so now it is possible to have security bolts which match our Black window and door fasteners.

Our reputation is based upon supplying a quality product. You may find a cheaper alternative but will it last? Once these products are fitted you want them to last. You don't want to have to replace them.

Its a cliche, but you generally get what you pay for. Specify our ironmongery and you know you will be getting a high quality, durable product.

Carbon footprint

Whatever your views on global warming it is something that we cannot ignore even if we want to. Nearly every single day there seems to be a news bulletin about the subject.

Large organisations tend to make make a lot of noise about their care for the environmentand about reducing their "carbon footprint". It led us to thinking about what impact our products may have on the environment compared with similar, but inferior copies imported from India or China.

Well, here in Walsall we have a modern foundry with an Electric Induction furnace. It is very efficient and because we operate under the Environmental Protection Act our emissions to the atmosphere are minimal. Add the fact that our products do not need to be sent half way around the world to satisfy the UK market and it is probably a "no brainer", to use popular parlance. Kirkpatrick Antique Black Ironmongery is more environmentally friendly than cheap imports!
